Political Animals, The House of Cards

A couple of years ago, Political Animals, a mini series that aired on the USA Network. I usually don’t jump on the band wagon of political thrillers but Political Animals hit me, Sigourney Weaver may have helped with my love for the show. The fact that show loosely based on Hillary Clinton and that a woman could do what a man can do, maybe even better hit the cord. Then House of Cards came along.

I have never been a Kevin Spacey fan, I remember watching American Beauty when I was younger but that was about it. This show had me hooked from the first episode. The night I started this blog, I was setting up my social media accounts and this blog and maybe a quarter into the first episode I stopped working and started watching. I was up late but it was well worth it. The ensemble is fantastic, Robin Wright plays his wife Claire, who is just as vindictive as her husband. I hadn’t seen Robin Wright since she played Princess Buttercup in the Princess Bride and Forest Gump. Needless to say chopping of those long locks to play Claire did wonders. The hook for me was Kate Mara, as Zoe Barnes. The aspiring reporter who makes a connection with a congressman to elevate her career and his agenda. Without giving too much away season 1 was fantastic, season 2 even better!

I was very depressed once season 2 was over. I had been watching the show at work, on the treadmill anywhere i could and it was gone. I was still hungry for another show to engulf me so I turned to Scandal. Not as good as House of Cards but still had that political theme that I love.
